About Movement

Pastors Brandon and Maya Garland outside Movement Church

Our pastors

Brandon & Maya Garland

Pastors Brandon and Maya planted Movement Church with a dream to build a life-giving church that feels like home. They lead with a passion to connect people to a life-giving relationship with Jesus and move them towards their purpose, and they would love to meet you this Sunday.

Our Mission

We exist to connect people to a life-giving relationship with Jesus.

Our Vision

Moving people towards purpose.

Our story

You are stepping into a miracle in motion.

To understand where we are today, it helps to look back at how it started.

  1. 2014

    The dream

Movement Church began as a dream God placed in Pastor Brandon’s heart as a teenager in 2014.

  2. The decade after

    The preparation

He spent a decade in full-time ministry, shaped and prepared by God for the calling ahead. That same calling was later confirmed in Pastor Maya’s life as she stepped into full-time ministry as well.

  3. 2020

    One mission

When they married in 2020, they united their lives around one calling: to plant a life-giving church wherever and whenever God would lead them.

  4. 2025

    The road to Austin

After years of serving in churches across Charlotte and Atlanta, God made it clear that the next assignment was Austin. They packed up, moved to a city where they knew no one, and started building what would become Movement Church.

Today

The miracle, in motion.

What was once a dream is a vibrant and growing church in Hutto, reaching people and seeing lives transformed.

Our Values

01

We love Jesus.

Our purpose is to share the hope of Jesus. Everything we do is centered around Him, and we will do everything short of sin to make it as easy as possible for people to encounter Him.

02

We have fun.

Church is meant to be enjoyed, not endured! Following Jesus isn't only the “right” way, but it's the best and most enjoyable way of life. An abundant, joyful, and passionate life with Jesus should be reflected in the local church.

03

We believe big.

With God, all things are possible in ways beyond what we can ask, think or imagine. We don't limit God with our thinking; instead, we dream big, believing that God can and wants to move in our lives, in our city, and in His church.

04

We pursue honor.

We honor God by the way we honor one another. We go above and beyond in the way we treat people. We believe that honor is never silent, so we are loud about celebrating others.

05

We go all in.

God and those we serve are worth our best, every time. Everything we do is worth doing to the best of our ability. We choose to maximize everything God's put in our hands.

06

We welcome everyone.

We don't just say ‘welcome home,’ we genuinely believe that this just might be the home you're looking for! We believe that the message of Jesus isn't about behavior modification; it's about life transformation. We invite everyone to come as you are and see what God has for you.

07

We fight for unity.

We'll always choose to be most vocal about what we're for, not what we're against. We don't let preference get in the way of people encountering God. Instead of majoring on minor things, we keep the main thing the main thing.

08

We get to do this.

We choose to serve, lead, and give like everything is a gift – because it is. Rather than showing up out of obligation, we view everything as an opportunity.

Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith reflects the biblical beliefs we hold as a church. These convictions have been shaped through study, prayer, and meaningful conversations, and they guide our theology and teaching. In sharing them, our goal is simply to be clear about who we are.
